COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution

The distribution of the COVID-19 vaccination has begun in the Washington, DC area.

Currently, the vaccine is only available through the direction of the health departments of DC, Maryland, and Virginia. This may change when the vaccine becomes more readily available.

Metro Health follows guidance from local government regarding when identified recipients are eligible to receive the vaccination.

Please visit their respective COVID-19 websites to learn more information:

  • DC Department of Health: https://coronavirus.dc.gov/vaccine
  • Maryland Department of Health: https://coronavirus.maryland.gov/pages/vaccine
  • Virginia Department of Health: https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/covid-19-vaccine/

Current CDC Distribution Guidelines

DC residents 65+ are now eligible for the vaccine. You can make an appointment through DC Health at www.vaccinate.dc.gov  or by calling 855-363-0333.

Frontline healthcare workers are mandated by the CDC to receive the vaccine to guarantee they stay healthy and can continue to serve the DC region

If you are a frontline healthcare worker, please contact your employer to discuss vaccination opportunities available to you.

Stop The Spread

Tips to Slow the Spread and Keep You & Your Family Safe

  • Wear a mask to protect yourself and others to stop the spread of COVID0-19
  • Stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arm lengths) from others who don’t live with you
  • Avoid crowds.  The more people you are in contact with, the more likely you are to be exposed to COVID-19.
  • Consider a virtual gathering to celebrate winter holidays
  • Stay home if you are sick
  • Get tested and quarantine immediately after
  • Get the COVID-19 vaccine when available
  • Answer all COVID-19 screening questions honestly
